Mipro to renew signalling systems of three marshalling yards in Finland

Mipro Oy has entered into an agreement with the Finnish Transport Agency on a major signalling system project. The project includes the renewal of signalling systems for three marshalling yards in eastern Finland – Niirala, Kotolahti-Mussalo in Kotka, and Vainikkala – during the years 2016 – 2018. The total value of the contract is 22.3 million euros.

Mipro will deliver the most advanced railway safety technology to control the marshalling yards of Niirala, Kotka Kotolahti-Mussalo and Vainikkala. The modernisation of the marshalling yards will reduce the number of manual operations, and thus enhance operations and improve safety.

Mipro’s scope of delivery includes all necessary signalling systems from control locations up to track equipment. The renewal of the signalling systems will start in autumn 2016 and will continue through to 2018. Each marshalling yard will be commissioned as a separate entity.

Mipro Oy’s managing director Juha Nurmi says that the contract is significant and strengthens the company’s order backlog. ”We have extensive and comprehensive experience in delivering safety related systems for rail traffic. This project is an excellent continuation of our project operations and our co-operation with the Finnish Transport Agency.”
